Three BigQuery passes became eight. Nobody noticed for ten days.
Between 13 and 14 August, churn, app, series, abandon and leads all landed, each card bringing its own pass. The cost was real and immediate. The detection was neither, because the thing that would have shown it had itself fallen behind.
I had a gauge. It was reading a number I wrote before the change.

Cold load went from seven seconds to thirty-three. The warm-up job kept absorbing that cost, so the page mostly still felt fine. Ten days passed before anyone caught it.

Re-resolution has a bill
BLU resolves the business from the source systems every time rather than keeping a copy. That is the design, and it is not free. The bill arrives late, and the comment inside the warm-up job still recorded the old numbers, so the one instrument that would have shown the drift was reporting a world that no longer existed.
