michaelpelland.com is Michael Pelland’s public workspace — a board of records with an AI that answers questions from them. It sells nothing, runs no ads, and has no interest in following you around the internet.

Questions you ask. When you ask Virtual Mike something, the question and its answer are recorded, along with an opaque identifier your own browser generates. That identifier is not your IP address, is not derived from your device, and identifies a browser rather than a person. It exists so the site can count questions against the daily allowance and recognise a returning browser. Questions are read by exactly one human: Mike, who treats unanswered ones as a list of what to write next.

An approximate location. The hosting platform derives a city from each request to display it back to you and to let answers be locally relevant when that is genuinely useful. The IP address it derives it from is not stored by this site.

Page views. The site uses its hosting platform’s cookie-free analytics: counts of visits and pages, no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers.

An email address, if you make an account. Signing in works by a one-time code emailed to you. The code is stored only as a hash and expires after one use. There are no passwords to store, so none can leak.

No payment information — nothing is for sale here. No passwords. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. No purchase of data about you from anyone else, and no sale of data about you to anyone, ever.

The minimum set of service providers required to run the site: hosting and analytics, the database behind the board, the AI providers that generate Virtual Mike’s answers and voice, and an email delivery service for login codes. Each receives only what its job requires. Questions sent to AI providers are used to generate the answer, not to build a profile of you.

Everything here works without an account. The browser identifier lives in your own browser’s storage and clearing site data removes it. To ask about or remove anything connected to you, email mike@michaelpelland.com.

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes get noted on the board, because that is where everything else this site thinks is recorded too.
